Detroit Red Wings’ Jeff Blashill kicked off his second year as head coach of the team, and he’s already come under fire for multiple reasons.

He doesn’t care, however.

He knows what kind of expectations are there for the Red Wings, and he seems to brush them off of his shoulder like dirt:

“We don’t worry lots about expectations to be honest with you. Whatever the expectations are, they are,” he told The Ticket 97.1 earlier today.

What are his expectations, heading into the “Farewell Season at the Joe”?

“…we want to win the Stanley Cup.” A bold, perhaps even farfetched idea considering the Red Wings have a few issues on the backend of the ice.

Still, Blashill is confident he can get that done with the 2016-2017 edition of the team. He added that it would be the “last time we talk about that”, and defended general manager Ken Holland’s work of favoring free agent acquisitions over prospects and other younger players.
