Report: Crosby confident amid historic drought

Is this the worst stretch of play we’ve ever seen from Sid the Kid?

You would think that being mired in the second worst goal scoring slump of his career would have Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby a little down in the dumps. Not a chance. The superstar forward simply doesn’t have time to feel sorry for himself, despite not scoring in 11 straight games.

It’s the worst such stretch Crosby has since a 12 game drought from Nov 2011 to March 2012. Of course, he’d love nothing more than to snap his current 11 game streak tonight as the Penguins take on the Buffalo Sabres at PPG Paints Arena.

"I think, in general, you just don't like going through that," Crosby said. "I think the biggest thing, though, is when you're not getting [chances]. If you're not getting the chances then you've got to reevaluate your game and find ways to get them.”

And that’s just it… Crosby has been getting chances. He just can’t cash in. Conversely, he also hasn’t been putting any assists during his recent slump. While he’s managed three helpers the past 11 games, he put up 17 in his last 12 game goalless streak.

So, what’s up with Sid? Is he bound to snap this streak? Or is there more going on with his game?
