Report: Despite retirement, Brad Richards will earn himself a massive payday this season.
Keystone Press.

Yesterday marked the final day of a truly remarkable professional hockey career, that of multiple time Stanley Cup Champion Brad Richards.

While the competitor in Richards likely wishes he could still compete at an elite level, his incredible career has earned him an extremely comfortable retirement. In fact despite his retirement Richards will continue to earn a rather large this season due to a buyout from the New York Rangers. General Fanager reports that Richards will make $5,055,556 from this season alone, and a total of $14,550,000 by 2025-2026 when the Rangers finally get out from under his contract.

It's a lot of money, and it brings Richards' career earnings to a staggering $106,390,000, once again a sign of just how valuable a player he was for so long during his NHL career. It breaks down to an average career earnings of $7,090,000 per season in the National Hockey League.

We hope it allows him to have a very comfortable retirement.
