TSN’s NHL Insider Darren Dreger came forward last week with news regarding Detroit Red Wings’ general manager Ken Holland and Winnipeg Jets’ Dave Cheveldayoff’s conversations regarding a potential Jacob Trouba trade.

He took the time to speak with Vancouver’s TSN 1040 earlier this afternoon to elaborate a little more on Holland’s relentless efforts at trying to acquire a suitable defenseman for the Red Wings:

“I can tell you that Kenny Holland has worked incredibly hard over the past couple few years at trying to add a defenseman. I know that he’s had conversations with Cheveldayoff, and I believe that Holland is willing to make a deal for just about anyone outside of Dylan Larkin. But there’s no one really in the Detroit Red Wings organization that seems to be a fit for Cheveldayoff…”

Surprisingly, many fans would point to the fact that the team boasts an overload of capable forwards that could be used as trade bait, yet the Jets’ organization has made it clear that it will only accept a young, left-handed defenseman of the same caliber as Trouba.
