Report: Duchene rumors heating up again

A new team has entered the mix, making things interesting for Sakic and the Avs.

All eyes were on Joe Sakic and the Colorado Avalanche at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. It had been long speculated that the Avs’ GM would finally pull the trigger on a Matt Duchene trade but, of course, it never happened. A week later and trade rumblings seem to have died down. Until today. Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch has reported that the Avalanche have inquired about Blue Jackets defensemen Gabriel Carlsson and Ryan Murray in exchange for Duchene:

Portzline also draws the Boston Bruins into the equation, with B’s sophomore defenseman and Colorado native Brandon Carlo on the table in discussions.

Whatever talks transpire as a result of these reports, it’s clear that Sakic isn’t budging of his high asking price. He’s held on to Duchene this long and doesn’t appear to be in any hurry to move the star centerman.
