REPORT: Fearing Orange Crush, Ducks plan BC holiday
Keystone Press

The crazy hockey fans of Edmonton are apparently too much for the Anaheim Ducks to handle. Edmonton Sun journalist and Hockey Hall of Fame member Terry Jones has reported that the Ducks are currently planning a brief holiday in Kelowna, BC between games 2 and 3 of the Oilers and Ducks’ second round playoff series.

But, can you really blame them? Oilers fans have gone bonkers for their team so far this postseason and have adopted the mob nickname of “Orange Crush”.  They’ve not only sold out the first two “viewing parties” at Rogers Place to watch games 1 and 2 on the jumbotron, but hundreds of fans have also made the pilgrimage to Anaheim to witness the games in person.

It’s a rabid fanbase in Edmonton that the Ducks players likely aren’t used to seeing in southern California. Whatever the Ducks’ reasoning for their brief holiday, they better bring their A game in Edmonton or they’re going to face some incredible scrutiny for their unconventional decision.
