No doubt about it, the St. Louis Blues have easily been the most disappointing team in the NHL this season.

After making a big splash this past offseason, many NHL fans and analysts predicted that the St. Louis Blues would take a big step forward in 2018-19. But nearly 30 games into the season the Blues sit near the bottom of the NHL’s overall standings with just 10 wins in their first 28 games. Clearly that’s not good enough…

Things have gotten so bad in St. Louis that teammates are actually fight in practice…

Now, Blues insider Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic is reporting that Blues general manager Doug Armstrong is officially open for business on the trade front and is willing to move everyone including superstar Vladimir Tarasenko and captain Alex Pietrangelo.

On a radio appearance with 101 ESPN, Rutherford revealed, "a couple General Managers around the league have said that they're hearing the big names are all on the block. Everything is open. Even Vladimir Tarasenko."

Suffice it to say that if the Blues move on from Tarasenko and Pietrangelo then they’ll be in a full on rebuild mode. This means that veteran players like Ryan O’Reilly, David Perron and Alex Steen could also be on the move.

It’s also worth noting that the Blues traded away their 2019 1st round pick to the Buffalo Sabres in the O’Reilly trade. Now, if the pick ends up being a top 10 selection, which currently it would be, then the Blues have the option to keep the pick and send their 2020 1st round pick to the Sabres… but if the continues on their current trajectory, that hardly seems like an ideal plan either. Tough times in St. Louis.
