The Calgary Flames would like to hang on to veteran Kris Versteeg, but that may not be very realistic.

In a breaking news report, TSN insider Darren Dreger has revealed that no less than a dozen rival National Hockey League organizations have reached out to Versteeg as he heads to unrestricted free agency, indicating that the Flames will have both some stiff competition, and a ton of it as well.

Versteeg is coming off a solid bounce back season as a member of the Flames, appearing in 69 games for the team, scoring 15 goals and 22 assists for 37 points over that stretch. While he put a negative plus minus rating of -3, the Flames massive struggles in goal early in the season may have skewed that number slightly.

Dreger has not elaborated what teams are interested, although he did state that the Flames remain in the mix, but it sounds more likely than not that Vewrsteeg will not be back next season.
