Calgary Flames fans were elated when the news broke that they signed Jaromir Jagr to a contract at the beginning of the 2017-18 season.

They may have had an even greater reaction if they had signed a different player whose name started with 'Jarom-".

Brian Burke revealed on TSN 1050 this morning that he was strongly evaluating two aged talents over the summer, before ultimately deciding on Jagr.

Long-time fan favorite Jarome Iginla is way past his prime - and would be a shadow of his former self. His glory days were all spent in Calgary. He broke 30 goals in 11 consecutive seasons, reaching the 50 goal plateau more than once.

He would go on to put up a couple good seasons for the Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche, but has since fizzled out.

He is still on the lookout for an NHL job. It doesn't look like the Flames have room for him now, but should injuries arise, would you want the team to bring him back?
