The Philadelphia Flyers and more specifically Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol appear to be sending a message to their young group of players.

The team has made the decision to place both defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere and forward Travis Konecny on the sidelines this evening, making the two young men healthy scratches for this evening's home game against the Montreal Canadiens.

Replacing Gostisbhere will be Nick Schultz, a move that may have been caused by Gostisbehere's overly offensive mindset, something that has cost him this season, earning him one of the worst plus minus ratings in the league after a breakout year as a rookie in 2015-2016.

One would expect Konecny to perhaps earn a little more leeway as a rookie, but it seems that Hakstol is intent on getting more out of his rookies, and replacing Konecny will be veteran forward Dale Weise.
