And just like that, the Flyers’ goaltending is solidified.

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they’ve signed goaltenders Alex Lyon and Anthony Stolarz each to a one-year, two-way contract. The two young goaltenders will likely each receive an opportunity to play with the Flyers next season after having split the previous campaign with the team’s AHL affiliate in Lehigh Valley.

Lyon, the undrafted 24 year-old, played 47 games for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in 2016-17, earning 27 wins and putting up a respectable 2.74 GAA and .912 Sv%. Stolarz, the 23 year-old former 2nd round pick of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, played 29 games for the Phantoms, earning 18 wins while posting a 2.92 GAA and .911 Sv%. Stolarz also managed seven games for the Flyers during the season and was electric in posting a shutout and a 2.07 GAA and .923 Sv%.

Clearly, there’s a future in Philly for at least one of these talented young netminders. Another good season in the AHL and either one of them could emerge as the future of the Flyers’ goaltending moving forward.
