The Buffalo Sabres have announced that they’ve hired retired NHL defenseman Mike Komisarek to serve as a player development coach.

Komisarek played 11 seasons in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes. Fans may remember Komisarek most from his surprise NHL All-Star Game appearance in 2009.

The big, bruising defender finished his NHL career with 14 goals, 81 points and 679 penalty minutes in 551 career games.
