KHL and Russian hockey insider Alessandro SerenRosso has announced that former Calgary Flames netminder Karri Ramo has signed a new deal with Jokerit of the KHL.

Ramo spent parts of three seasons playing for the Flames but never posted better than a 2.60 GAA and .912 Sv% in a single season. Once his contract with the Flames expired Ramo was unable to find work in the NHL and so signed with the Lahti Pelicans of the Finnish SM-liiga. There were rumors last season of him joining the Toronto Maple Leafs in a backup role to starter Frederik Andersen, but the rumors failed to materialize and the Leafs settled on Curtis McIlhenney for the role. With this latest signing it appears that Ramo has given up on NHL options for 2017-18, as well.

Flames fans will surely remember Ramo for his exciting, yet inconsistent, style of play. Some nights he’d make the highlight reel, other nights he’d make the lowlight reel. There never really seemed to be a middle-ground with the Finnish native, but hopefully he can re-establish his career in the KHL and find the consistency that has eluded him so far.
