Jarome Iginla has been one of the most dominant players in the NHL for nearly two decades. The gritty winger has twice put up 50+ goals in his NHL career and was a lock for 60+ points for over a dozen years. Now, at 40-years-old and without a contract one week into the 2017-18 season, it looks like Iginla’s days in the NHL may be over.

There was speculation that he may sign with his hometown Edmonton Oilers before the regular season, but the emergence of rookie Kailer Yamamoto has put that move in doubt. Ditto for the Calgary Flames… there seemed to be a fit for him to return to his former team, but the addition of Jaromir Jagr seems to have nixed that deal.

Now, with the NHL season in progress, is Iginla going to be left out in the cold?

Maybe he’s waiting for an injury to free up a spot? Or maybe he’ll keep himself in shape to represent Canada at the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics. What’s next for Iggy?
