Report: Goalie Set To Turn Heads

This goalie has one objective in mind: a championship.

Many had him touted as the favorite to play backup to Petr Mrazek during the Detroit Red Wings’ 2016-2017 regular season schedule. Most would agree that after Mrazek, Jared Coreau is the goaltender of the future. For those who were not convinced, an excellent preseason outing certainly swayed them. After all, it would be hard not to be with a 1.61 GAA and a .953 save percentage in 3 outings.

Unfortunately for Coreau, Jimmy Howard and Mrazek are the go-to guys for the job for the time being, but the 24-year-old is planning on leaving a lasting impression with the Grand Rapids Griffins, according to MLive.com:

“I want to perform well, I want to be the guy and, if I am going to go up in the ranks, I want to leave Grand Rapids with a successful year for all of us.”

His goal?

“…given the guys we have here, is a championship," he added.

He will get the nod ahead of the Griffins’ season opener tonight.
