Golden Knights Set to Sign Third Player

After news that the expansion Vegas Golden Knights had signed Russian forward Vadim Shipachyov to a two-year, $4.5 million contract, the NHL was served notice that the new team is ready to become a major player in trades and free agency moving forward. Now, there are reports that the Golden Knights are set to ink their third player in franchise history.

Dadonov is a former third round draft pick of the Florida Panthers in 2007 and managed to play parts of three NHL seasons for the club from 2009–2012. Since then he’s played in the KHL and most recently put up 30 goals and 66 points in 53 games with St. Petersburg SKA. He also put up 19 points in 18 playoff games en route to SKA’s Gagarin Cup championship.

Once signed, Dadonov will join Shipachyov and former WHL forward Reid Duke as the team’s first players. Of course, the bulk of Vegas’ roster will be decided at the NHL Expansion Draft this offseason, but look for general manager George McPhee to be very involved in trades and free agency as well, as he looks to build his roster from the ground up.
