The Las Vegas Golden Knights have signed a young defenseman to the first contract of his National Hockey League career.

According to an official announcement from the Golden Knights, the team has signed 19-year-old Nicolas Hague to a three-year entry-level contract. The big 6'6 Canadian defenseman seemingly impressed the team enough during training camp to earn himself an NHL deal.

Hague was selected in the second round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft after a strong showing in two seasons with the Ontario Hockey League's Mississauga Steelheads.

Hague's first season saw him record 14 goals and 10 assists for 28 points in 66 games, however he nearly doubled his point total the following season with 18 goals and 28 assists for 46 points in 65 games.
