Report: Golden Knights to debut their newest weapon in final game of the season!

The Las Vegas Golden Knights are unveiling their newest weapon in their final game before the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs. 

According to an official announcement from the Las Vegas Golden Knights via their social media presence, Las Vegas Golden Knights head coach Gerard Gallant has confirmed that Jimmy Schuldt will make his National Hockey League debut tonight. The Golden Knights will face off against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night in what will be a completely meaningless game for the Kings, but one that now takes on an interesting twist for the Golden Knights. 

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Jimmy Schuldt I can hardly blame you. Schuldt went undrafted and would instead make a name for himself during his college career as a member of St. Cloud State's hockey team, a team he would eventually lead as captain. Schuldt would play in 4 seasons with St. Cloud State with his most recent season comprising of 39 regular season games in which he recorded 10 goals and 25 assists for a total of 35 poits. Needless to say that is incredibly solid production when you consider the fact that Schuldt is a defenseman by trade and one that finished the season with a plus minus rating of +24. 

The fact that the Golden Knights are giving him some game time this evening would appear to indicate that they are very much leaving open the possibility of using Schuldt as a weapon on their roster for the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs. It may even be that the Golden Knights only feel that Schuldt will be a serviceable depth option, but the kind of look he gets in the playoffs could very well depend on how strong his performance against the Kings this evening is. 

That being said this is the final game of the 2018 - 2019 NHL season for the Los Angeles Kings who have long since been eliminated from playoff contention. I would be surprised if the Kings did not show up to play in this game with them having nothing but pride on the line at this stage, so that means that Schuldt's will not be getting any kind of cake walk in his NHL debut.
