We already knew the Montreal Canadiens would greatly suffer from the losses of Andrei Markov and Alexander Radulov. But we tend to forget Alexei Emelin's loss in the expansion draft might have affected the Canadiens as well. Perhaps more than we thought.
TSN insider Pierre LeBrun dropped a bombshell tonight, in an interview with RDS' Hockey306. According to him, the Canadiens tried to bring back the russian blueliner:
"That may be something people don't really know about, but after they lost Alexei Emelin in the expansion draft, according to my sources the Habs have called Vegas inquiring what it would take to bring him back to Montreal."
Wow! Just imagine the scenario! LeBrun doesn't give more information about what the Golden Knights asked for the 31-year-old defenseman. Obviously, it was too much for Bergevin.
Do you think he should've traded for him, considering how bad the Canadiens' defense is?
