The Montreal Canadiens have lost of their core players to injury.

A report from TSN's John Lu is now claiming that veteran defenseman Andrei Markov has suffered some form of a lower-body injury and will miss at least one game as a result of that injury. The Canadiens play tonight against the Anaheim Ducks and Markov will sit out the game, although it's unclear if he may or may not miss more time after that.

Lu spoke to Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien who would only add that Markov is currently being listed as day to day, which sheds no light on when he might return to the line up.

Despite slowing down over the years Markov remains an integral part of the Canadiens defense and has appeared in 31 games for Montreal this season and has accounted for 21 points over that stretch.
