Update on the injury front and a surprising healthy scratch against the Flyers.

Ahead of the Detroit Red Wings’ matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers tonight, there are a few personnel changes to the lineup that head coach Jeff Blashill has decided to make.

In light of the fact that the Flyers are undefeated in their last 11 games against the Red Wings at the Wells Fargo Center since 1997, Blashill has opted to make defenseman Ryan Sproul a healthy scratch despite the fact that the rookie has two assists in five games this season.

Instead, it’s Xavier Ouellet who will take Sproul’s place tonight, and the 23-year-old will do what he can to help the Red Wings snap their two-game losing streak after winning six in a row. If today’s practice lines are any indication, Ouellet will be paired with Brendan Smith.

Detroit will be without their (surprising) star player and leading scorer Thomas Vanek, who continues to be “week-to-week” with a mid-lower-body injury he sustained last week.
