The Toronto Maple Leafs’ first overall choice at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft Auston Matthews made history last night when he scored four goals in his debut, becoming the first-ever player to do so. He shook the hockey world, and the Detroit Red Wings were no exception.

Head coach Jeff Blashill called the feat “unreal”, and referred to certain legends that have never scored a hat trick. Justin Abdelkader believes it was great for the game of hockey, and said: “He's a really skilled player, I think he's really mature for his age, plays both ends of the ice, is big and strong on his skates. He can do everything really well,” as per MLive.com.

Moreover, Xavier Ouellet chimed in: “He’s obviously an amazing player… There’s not much he doesn’t have. He’s a really exciting player. He’s going to be fun to watch for sure.”
