The Pittsburgh Penguins suffered a huge blow last season when it was revealed that star defenseman Kris Letang needed to undergo surgery to repair his damaged neck but now, several months later, there is finally some good news.

A report from Jonathan Bombulie of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has revealed that Letang is now medically cleared for contact, indicating that he will be a full participant at Penguins training camp which kicks off on Friday.

Letang admitted on Tuesday that it was a difficult journey back to health, especially in the first few days following his surgery.

“It was hard. I'm not going to lie,” Letang said as per Bombulie. “It was a tough first two weeks. There's a lot that goes through your mind. After that, I started getting more confidence. When the guys were playing, I was actually able to work out and do little things. I got my confidence back that I was going to be healthy.”

Letang also stated that he expects to get right back into the thick of things and that means he expects to be eating up huge minutes on a nightly basis for the Penguins and furthermore he added that the injury will not impact the way he plays this upcoming season.

“There's certain things to avoid, that's for sure, but it's not going to change my game.”

This is without a doubt very big news for the Penguins.
