Report: Huge update on injured Red Wings star Niklas Kronwall.

The Detroit Red Wings have been without their top defenseman since the start of the season, but Friday brought with it some good news.

On Friday when speaking to the assembled media, veteran defenseman Niklas Kronwall announced that he would play his very first game of the 2016-2017 season after finally getting healthy, the Red Wings confirmed that announcement via social media.

Kronwall was sidelined due to a nagging knee injury that has been hampering him for some time, it not only prevented him from participating in training cmap, but he also sat out the World Cup of Hockey as a result of the injury.

With that in mind it's probably safe to assume that Kronwall will have some catching up to do when it comes to being 100% game ready, but nonetheless this is a huge update for the Red Wings and their fan base.
