Report: Insider hints at pre-arranged trade between Vegas and Western Conference powerhouse

It’s been a question that has surrounded the Anaheim Ducks all season: “What are they going to do about the Expansion Draft?” While it was thought all along that the Ducks would have to part with one of their promising young defensemen, yesterday’s news that the team had asked veteran Kevin Bieksa to waive his no-trade contract seemed to offer some relief. Now, however, one NHL insider is reporting that the Ducks have another plan in mind:


Interesting. Does this mean that Bieksa has refused to waive his no-trade clause? Or was this part of the plan all along? Watch the Ducks and general manager Bob Murray closely as we draw closer to the NHL Expansion Draft.

For what it’s worth, another NHL insider, Pierre LeBrun is adamant that the team will not risk exposing one young defender in particular:


No matter which way you look at it, the Ducks are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Tough decisions will be made this week in Orange County.
