You would think that after 25 years of professional hockey that Future Hall of Famer Jaromir Jagr would have no trouble finding work. After all, it’s not like the 45-year-old is a washed-up has been. His 16 goals and 46 points with the Florida Panthers are nothing to sneeze at in today’s NHL where scoring seems to be on the decline.

So, what gives? Why can’t Jagr find a team to play for? Well, according to a report from KHL insider Igor Eronko, the reason may be due to Jagr himself, rather than any team’s efforts. According to Eronko, Jagr has been presented with a professional tryout (PTO) options from at least one NHL club, but isn’t interested.

You have to admit, he’s not wrong. While he’s not the 25-year-old version of himself any longer, Jagr is still a valuable player in the right system. He’s proven all there is to prove in hockey, so why would a team expect him to sign a tryout contract?

Meanwhile, hockey fans are left to wait and watch his next move. The KHL? Time will tell.
