One of the Winnipeg Jets top prospects has suffered a major setback.

Roughly one week after suffering an injury on January 17th, Windsor Spitfires defenseman Logan Stanley has officially been ruled out for the remainder of the season, and there are serious doubts regarding his availability for the Memorial Cup tournament.

Stanley was the Jets other first round draft pick in 2016, being selected 18th overall after the Jets previously acquired forward Patrik Laine 2nd overall earlier in the draft. He's one of the organization's top defensive prospects and whenever an 18-year-old suffers a major injury of this kind there is always concern about their long-term health and development.

According to the Spitfires, Stanley underwent successful surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee and is expected to need four months to recover from the procedure.
