It's going to be hard for fans in Toronto to feel any empathy at this announcement, and frustration is far more likely an emotion to spring up in people at this news.

On Thursday morning Leafs' forward Joffrey Lupul made an official statement to the media and in that statement he confirmed the rumors that began to surface yesterday regarding his health,

Lupul admitted that he is unfit to start the season with his team, and will instead be placed on injured reserve for an undetermined period of time, with some even speculating that this might be it for Lupul who still has two-years leer on his contract.

That does not appear to be the case according to Lupul though, he vowed to work as hard as he could so that he could make a return to the ice this season, but one has to wonder if that is at all realistic. Despite missing months to end the regular season, and having the entire summer to recover it sounds like Lupul is nowhere near game shape, one has to wonder if more time really is the answer here, or if this is an injury Lupul simply cannot bounce back from.
