Report: Jonathan Drouin appears to have significant injury after taking huge hit.
Keystone Press

The Tampa Bay Lightning have confirmed an injury to talented young forward Jonathan Drouin.

Drouin was leveled by a monster hit on Tuesday night when the Lightning faced off against the New York Islanders. It was Islanders defenseman Calvin de Haan who caught Drouin coming across the blue line with the big body check in the first period of the game, forcing Drouin to head to the locker room.

While the Lightning have been quiet on the topic since, today it was confirmed by Lightning insider Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times that Drouin will not play this evening when the team faces off against the Boston Bruins.

It sounds like this could be significant as well, with Smith confirmed that Drouin is currently being evaluated by doctors, and the Lightning admitting they don't know how long he will be out.

If you missed the hit you can watch it in the video below.
