Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Justin Schultz participated in his first practice with the team since he was injured on December fifth. He is sidelined with a lower-body injury. Schultz was wearing a no-contact jersey.

Schultz, 27, was drafted 43rd overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2008. He never played with them, and signed as a free agent with the Edmonton Oilers in 2012. The Penguins acquired him via trade from the Oilers in 2016. In 367 games played in the NHL with the Oilers and the Penguins, he registered 170 points and added 17 points in 36 playoff games.

Prior to his injury, the Kelowna, British-Colombia had ten points and six penalty minutes in 23 games played.

The Penguins are currently seventh in the Metropolitan division with a record of 19-17-3. They will play against the Detroit Red Wings tomorrow night.
