Good luck with that one, Rob Blake!

You’ll be hard pressed to find a more disappointing team in the NHL this season than the Los Angeles Kings. After finishing in a Wild Card playoff spot with 98 points last season, the Kings are one of the worst teams in the NHL this season and look destined for a bottom five finish and a spot in the NHL Draft Lottery.

With the NHL’s February 25th trade deadline looming, Kings general manager Rob Blake has some serious decisions to make regarding his roster, specifically when it comes to veteran players like Jake Muzzin, Alec Martinez and Tyler Toffoli. Earlier today a report from NHL insider Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic revealed the fact that Blake is seeking a HEFTY return for his players, in particular for Muzzin. The asking price? A first round pick AND a prospect.

Check it out:

There’s no guarantee the Kings will move Jake Muzzin but they’re certainly in listening mode. And the asking price I’m told right now for the talented top-four blueliner is a first-round pick plus a prospect.

It’s worth noting that Muzzin would not be a rental pick up, as he has another season left on his contract at a cap hit of $4 million.

The 29 year old blue liner is having another solid season with 20 points in 47 games. Teams expected to be looking for a blue liner at this year’s deadline are the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens.
