Kane hired the cop as a driver.
According to the Buffalo News, an off-duty police officer drove Patrick Kane, his alleged victim, her female friend and a male friend of Kane from the Skybar to Kane's house on the night he allegedly raped a young woman.
Thomas English, the cop in question, spoke to the Buffalo News, stating he was also interviewed by the investigators of Erie county district regarding Kane's case. He added that he is supporting Kane, a long-time friend who has employed him as a driver for the past five years.
English said he cannot provide any more details of what happened in Kane's home since he didn't enter with the rest of the group.
According to the Buffalo News:
"The lieutenant acknowledged that he has no way of knowing what happened between Kane and the alleged victim inside the house. Since the allegation was made, he said, he has had no contact with Kane or his family."
The police department is actually conducting an internal investigation on whether or not English was with Kane at a time he was supposed to be on-duty.
"Of English, a Buffalo police official said, 'We are not aware of any allegations of improper activity by the off-duty officer in dealing with Kane or the alleged victim that night.'"
English was with Kane the entire time he was at SkyBar. From what he witnessed, from the time he was with them at the bar until he left the group at Kane's house, the was no inappropriate action from anyone of them.
“It was a mutual agreement to go hang out at the house,” English said.
Kane, who is also being investigated on internally by the NHL, has much to lose in this case. The $84M, eight year contract he signed with the Blackhawks kicks in this year.
Again please keep in mind that Kane is innocent until proven guilty.
