TSN reporter and Toronto Maple Leafs insider Darren Dreger just dropped a bomb that Leafs fans won’t like to hear. The Vegas Golden Knights will indeed select Brendan Leipsic in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft.

Leipsic, of course, was left unprotected by the Leafs and therefore exposed to selection even after an AHL campaign where he produced at over a point-per-game average. His 18 goals and 51 points in 49 games made him one of the league’s very best point producers and, and at just 23 years old, was thought to be a part of the future in Toronto.

In just six NHL games for the Leafs last season, the Winnipeg native produced a goal and three points. Not bad considering he was mostly used in a depth position. Now, with a full-time roster spot waiting for him in Vegas, he’ll be given the shot to finally show what he’s made of.

What do you think of this Leafs fans? Tough break? Or big mistake?
