There have been a number of rumors surrounding the Maple Leafs as we head into the holiday season, the most prominent however has been the insistent rumor surround forward James van Riemsdyk.

On Monday after the Leafs hit the ice for practice some members of the media had a chance to catch up with van Riemsdyk and they asked him how he's dealing with his name being out there so much. While he admitted it impacted him hin the past, van Riemsdyk believes his experience allows him to brush most of it off.

“You don’t really worry about it, too much,” van Riemsdyk said as per Sean Fitz-Gerald of The Athletic. “And I think that kind of stuff comes from experience.”

This would not be the first trade of van Riemsdyk career, after being drafted by the Philadlephia Flyers van Riemsdyk's name ended up in trade rumors and he admits that at the time it had more of an impact on his younger self.

“You take it a little more personally, at that point,” he said on Monday. “You’re a little naïve to the fact that those sorts of things can happen, although you never think it can happen to you.”

While he didn't explicitly state it, it sounds like these days van Riemsdyk takes the interest from other teams as a positive, or at the very least as something complimentary of the skills he displays.

“I’d like to think I’m a productive player,” he said. “So hopefully, teams always want those.”
