In case you missed it last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Los Angeles Kings hooked up on a late night deal with three players changing locales.

Check it out:

The Leafs pick up goalie Jack Campbell to replace Michael Hutchinson, who simply has not gotten the job done this season, while also picking up fourth line forward Kyle Clifford. Heading to LA is California native Trevor Moore and two 3rd round picks.

In one fell swoop, Leafs GM Kyle Dubas addressed his team’s need for a solid backup goalie and added some toughness, as well. But… is that all? Are the Leafs done? Surely they’d like to add an impactful defenseman, right?

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet believes that there’s still more to come from Dubas and he floats Kasperi Kapanen, Alex Kerfoot, Andreas Johnsson as well as Jake Muzzin, Cody Ceci and Tyson Barrie as potential trade chips.

Check it out:

With Ceci, Muzzin and Barrie all slated to become unrestricted free agents it makes sense to see what sort of return they can get. But here’s the thing… the Leafs’ defence isn’t exactly stellar. Remove Muzzin and Barrie from that group and things aren’t pretty…

Truthfully, Morgan Rielly’s health will determine much of what the Leafs do or do not do ahead of the deadline. A healthy Rielly at the top of his game diminishes the need to bring in additional blueline help. If Rielly isn’t quite ready though… well that’s when things could get interesting.
