In case you missed it earlier today the Tampa Bay Lightning traded veteran forward Ryan Callahan to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for backup goaltender Mike Condon. The two teams also swapped late round draft picks, as well.

Check it out:

The move is essentially a salary dump for the cap strapped Lightning, who now clear Callahan’s $5.8 million off the books. The veteran has struggled with back injuries the past two seasons and announced earlier this summer that doctors have advised him to retire from the sport. In order to collect the full amount of his contract however, Callahan won't officially retire until after the 2019-20 season. It's expected that he'll be placed on long-term-injury-reserve (LTIR) for the duration of the season.

As for Condon’s future, Lightning GM Julien Brisebois confirmed that he’ll report to the AHL to start the season, meaning his $3 million contract will not count against the Lightning’s salary cap for 2019-20, unless he earns an NHL call up. The Lightning currently have starter Andrei Vasilevsky and backup Curtis McElhinney under contract, as well as Condon, Scott Wedgewood and Louis Domingue. Something's got to give and Brisebois confirmed that he's "looking for an opportunity to move Domingue to another organization."

So don't be surprised if and when Domingue is sent packing later this offseason.
