Milan Lucic, just 29 years-old and about to start the second year of a seven year contract that he signed with the Edmonton Oilers last offseason, apparently has plans for himself once his NHL career is over. In an article by Vancouver Sun writer Steve Ewen, Lucic opens up about his desire to get into NHL management.

“I definitely love everything that goes into putting a team together,” said Lucic. “It’s something that you think about. I would definitely love to get back into the management side of things one day.”

Could you imagine getting into a contract stalemate with Milan Lucic? I wouldn’t want to enter that negotiation room alone…

So, what does Lucic think of the league’s current crop of GM’s? “I’ve been in the league for 10 years now and I’ve seen how things progress and how things happen,” said the big winger. “You see talent. You see moves. Sometimes you scratch your head.”

Indeed. We couldn’t agree more, Milan. But, we’re also not sure that being a human battering ram is a good education on how to become a good general manager.
