Report: Martin Brodeur's son currently trying out for an NHL team.

It can't be easy being the son of Martin Brodeur and trying to follow in your father's footsteps but young Anthony Brodeur is doing a decent job of it.

According to a report from Jonas Siegel of the Canadian Press Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Lou Lamoriello, who drafted Brodeur in the 7th round when he was still at the helm of the New Jersey Devils, has invited the young Brodeur to a development camp on a tryout. For Brodeur it was a no-brainer to answer the call from an NHL team.

"I'm going to take a tryout from an NHL team any day," Brodeur said after the first day of on-ice workouts.

Brodeur was never signed after being drafted by the Devils, but he is coming off arbuably the best season of his career with the Penticton Vees of the BCHL and the Leafs are likely doing their due diligence to add the best quality depth at every level of their organization.

He's likely a long shot to make the team, but for Brodeur the experience alone is worth his time.

"I'm really excited to be here, just to learn," Brodeur said. "It's a learning opportunity, try to develop myself to get better."
