San Jose Sharks coach Pete DeBoer has revealed that defenseman Paul Martin has suffered a setback in his recovery from an ankle injury and there is no indication yet as to when he’ll be able to return.

DeBoer did add that Martin's new update is not a recurrence of the ankle injury that has kept him out of the lineup for the last six weeks, adding that he doesn’t believe that Martin will undergo another surgery.

Martin has surgery this summer to repair ligaments in his ankle before he re-injured the ankle in the second week of the regular season.

Martin, who has been on injured reserve since Oct. 12, did not travel with the Sharks for their road games against the Arizona Coyotes tonight and the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday.
