Milestone Reached for All-star Player

Last night the Minnesota Wild honored Eric Staal during the pre-game ceremony for his 1000th NHL game. The Wild held off on the ceremony until last night so that he could come before the team he captained and that drafted him second overall in 2003. His 1000th game was truly on March 19thJordan Staal presented his brother with a painting from the Hurricanes organization, having his brother's present was a special moment.

The Wild has a tradition of passing the silver stick, which his three kids were able to participate in. Besides that, the Wild gave the Staals a trip for his family to take this summer. He received a Tiffany crystal from the NHL, a Rolex watch from his teammates and a donation of $5,000 from the Wild Foundation to the Staal Family Foundation.

Staal has played with three NHL teams in his career, the hurricanes whom he won the Stanley cup with in 2006, the rangers and the wild. Not only has he also won the Stanley cup but he also won an Olympic gold medal in 2010 in Vancouver. It is safe to say that he is simply an all-star player. In his 1009 games played he has 844 points (352 goals, 492 assists).
