Report: More bad news for Sens franchise

Ouch… when it rains it pours.

No doubt it’s been a season to forget for the Ottawa Senators. Not only has the team seen franchise players like Erik Karlsson, Matt Duchene and Mark Stone leave the team, but they’re also dead last in the NHL’s standings. Oh… and they don’t even have their own first round pick, as they shipped it to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for the now departed Duchene in an ill-fated trade last season.

So, there players have left, they’re dead last and they don’t even have a top pick… what else can go wrong? Well… surprise, surprise… it turns out a lot more can go wrong.

Senators insider Brent Wallace o TSN reported earlier today that breakout star Thomas Chabot is out indefinitely with a broken toe.

The 22 year old defenseman has been one of the lone bright lights for the Sens this season, potting 13 goals and 49 points in just 62 games. The team’s 18th overall selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft is being counted on to anchor the team’s defence corps moving forward. Here’s hoping he makes a full recovery and can get back into the lineup for the Sens’ season concludes next month.
