Report: More bad news for the Capitals!

The Washington Capitals will be without defenseman Matt Niskanen again tonight to face the Carolina Hurricanes, as reported on twitter by hockey insider Tarik El-Bashir. He is dealing with an upper-body injury.


Niskanen, 31, was drafted 28th overall by the Dallas Stars in 2005. He played 760 games in the NHL so far with the Stars, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Capitals, registering 280 points and 397 penalty minutes. He added 29 points in 94 playoff games. He signed with Washington as a free agent in 2014.

So far this season, the Virginia, Minnesota native has 11 points and 14 penalty minutes in 27 games.

The Capitals are currently first in the Metropolitan division with a record of 24-13-3.
