The National Hockey League has bumped up it's trade deadline this season, and one has to wonder if it's more than just mere coincidence.

While there has not been an official announcement from the league itself at the time of this writing, NHL insider Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports is reporting that the trade deadline for the 2017-2018 NHL season will be bumped up to the 26th of February.

In a surprising coincidence, this date coincides with the end of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in South Korea, games that the NHL has already determined it will not be participating in, and furthermore games they have banned their players from attending.

While there may be, or may not be, ulterior motives behind moving the date up this season, it just means that fans of NHL trades won't have to wait as long for one of the most exciting days of the NHL season this time around.
