Vancouver Canucks forward Derek Dorsett has been on absolute fire this season. The fourth line grinder has seven goals and nine points in 20 games this season, after sitting out 60+ games last season with a career threatening neck injury.

After an experimental offseason surgery, Dorsett looked to be back to his old self this season until he suffered a set back earlier this week. Now… the worst has been confirmed. Dorsett has left the team and is seeking a medical opinion on what to do next and what’s in store for his future in the NHL. The Canucks have released a statement on the matter:

Oh man… here’s hoping for a full recovery and that Dorsett can get back into the team’s lineup in short order.

The 30-year-old veteran has played 515 career NHL games split between the Canucks, the New York Rangers and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
