The Oilers seemingly gave in to the demands from Edmonton.

The Edmonton Oilers probably aren't feeling too great about the trade that sent forward Jordan Eberle to the New York Islanders in exchange for center Ryan Strome at this stage of the season, and there's good reason for that.

Not only has Strome not performed particularly well for the Oilers so far but apprently he wasn't supposed to be the only player in the deal. TSN's Travis Yost is reporting that the original offer was Eberle for Strome as well as defenseman Calvin de Haan. The Islanders eventually pulled back on that deal and for some reason the Oilers went on to accept Eberle for Strome straight up.

de Haan not only is a former first round pick, but at 26-years-old is a player who has appeared in all 27 games for the Islanders this season, recording 1 goal and 8 assists for 9 total points and a plus minus rating of +7.

Considering how desperately general manager Peter Chiarelli has been searching for help on the blue line this new information from Yost makes the deal seem like an even bigger blunder on the part of the Oilers GM.
