Report: Oilers on the verge of adding veteran forward.

The Edmonton Oilers appear to be the on the verge of adding some veteran experience to their line up.

According to a report from TSN Insider Darren Dreger the Edmonton Oilers are on the verge of agreeing to a professional tryout offer with former Stanley Cup Champion Kris Versteeg.

Versteeg had originally signed with a team in Switzerland this summer but the deal fell through as a result of insurance complications, although some sources have claimed Versteeg failed a medical exam but those are as of right now only rumors.

Whether it's true or not likely won't pose much of a risk for Edmonton, even if they do sign Versteeg to a PTO they are under no obligation to sign him to their roster should he be unable to perform at the level they would expect.

Bringing in a proven winner who has seen it all in the league could also prove invaluable in the locker room for some of Edmonton's young and up and coming stars.

More to come.
