Report: One important player returns to practice, another absent

One of those good news, bad news kind of days.

The Philadelphia Flyers had a mix of good and bad news this afternoon at practice.

Nolan Patrick was listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury after the team's game against the Anaheim Ducks earlier this week. He did not line up against the Ottawa Senators Thursday night.

Here's where the hit occured.

Given the point of contact, the fear was perhaps that he had sustained a concussion, but by all appearances he is okay.

In other news, Wayne Simmonds has ditched his mouth guard protecting his jaw, so there's another piece of good news today.

The mildly bad news is Robert Hagg taking a maintendance day. Sometimes this is truly nothing - but in some cases it turns out to be a cover for something worse.

His status will be monitored.
