Is Joe Sakic willing to budge?

We keep hearing more and more about a potential messy divorce between the Colorado Avalanche and forward Matt Duchene, but nothing has yet to happen.

Rumors were recently heating up that the Buffalo Sabres might be interested to land the 26-year-old, but it has remained quiet on all fronts. Although general manager Joe Sakic said he expects the star center to attend training camp in Colorado, he is still hoping to receive an offer for Duchene that meets his expectations.

According to Hockey Buzz, Sakic and Avalanche management are getting ready to make one last push to trade Duchene.

"They of course are saying they'd be fine with Matt staying put, but clearly both Duchene and the Avalanche are just hoping there is a team out there willing to pay the price and give them more players that can step right in and help out in Denver," told a source from a club out west to Hockey Buzz.

Duchene, who was drafted third overall back in 2009, is coming off his worst season in the National Hockey League, with just 18 goals and 41 points for the last-place Avalanche.
