Report: One team is out of the Will Butcher sweepstakes!
Keystone Press Agency

We reported yesterday that young and coveted free agent Will Butcher will announce his new destination on Sunday, in presence of his family and agent. It is extremely hard to predict where the 22-year-old will end up playing next year, since no clear frontrunner has emerged in the Butcher sweepstakes.

KHL insider Slava Malamud does not know where Butcher will sign, but at least he knows where he wont:

According to him, the Buffalo Sabres have no intention of signing the 2017 Hobey Baker Award winner. Butcher's agent, Brian Bartlett, said yesterday that four teams were still hoping to land him, so this means we are now down to three possible organizations for him.

Previous reports indicated that the Vegas Golden Knights and the New Jersey Devils were hoping to have the young stud in their roster for next year.

The former University of Denver star capped off an impressive NCAA career with seven goals and 37 points in 43 games during his senior year. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2013 NHL draft by the Colorado Avalanche.
