Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane is not only a franchise icon since being drafted 1st overall in 2007, but also would be a lock for the Hockey Hall of Fame if he were to decide to hang up the skates right now. With 1,180 points in 1,107 games along with three Stanley Cup wins, the Art Ross Trophy, the Calder Trophy, the Hart Trophy, and the Ted Lindsay Award, Kane's personal hardware case is completely filled. He's also arguably the best American born player of all time.

However, the Blackhawks are about to enter what will be yet another painful rebuilding process, having already ditched the likes of Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Strome and Dominik Kubalik this offseason. Meanwhile, Kane and fellow Hawks icon Jonathan Toews are entering the final season of their identical eight year contracts that carry an AAV of $10.5 million.

Needless to say, the Blackhawks won't be winning anything of consequence any time soon. Of course, Toews has made no bones about the fact that he doesn't want to be part of a rebuilding squad, leading to speculation that the longtime captain could soon be headed for greener pastures. And speaking of green, don't be surprised to see that being the color that Kane could soon be wearing.

According to multiple reports, the Dallas Stars are reportedly interested in acquiring Kane from the Blackhawks. The reports were confirmed by NHL reporter Andy Strickland, who said that "a birdy" told him that Dallas could be in on Kane.

"Somebody told me, watch out for the Dallas Stars. They have some work to do....but they are looking. If they're ever going to win, they have to do it now. They're looking to make a splash, and I had someone throw out the name Patrick Kane to me. He has one year left, and it's like 'Hey, he could help us obviously. It's not like you're committing long term or whatever'."

Chicago would have to eat some money.....I had a birdy tell me to watch out for the Dallas Stars."
